Three-dimensional numerical modelling studies in mining and civil engineering.

Mincad Systems has carried out a large number of full three-dimensional studies over more than two decades, including metal mining, coal mining and civil engineering work.

Studies use in-house three-dimensional modelling packages and, where needed, other specialist programs. More than 50 programs are available so that the method can be matched to the problem.

Examples

Olympic Dam Operations. Three-dimensional models were used to look at tunnel profiles and intersection geometries, stress fields and rock properties. Other work considered profiles for structures such as orepasses.

Curved tunnels in weak rock. A coal project examined curved tunnel profiles in very weak laminated rock, including sequential tunnel mining and geological structures such as joints, faults and yielding ground.

Work has also included stress analysis, road and airport pavement design, and foundation design for mining and civil engineering organisations.
